Did you know there used to be 4 more patterned to what are standard 12 patterns awhile back?
They were more complicated and was only available in white.
EmmaCreation has brought back one of them, but to make it even better (and to make it easier to do), brought back MARUBISHAMON!
Some of you might remember this pattern from the past. Doesn't it look gorgeous in navy?
Unlike other Sashiko pattern, you cannot do a long running stitch. So if you do Sashiko in the traditional way by not making a knot, you are in for a long project. But, since the back of this pattern looks... not nice, its better to make it into a pillow or anything that the back of this pattern would not show, and just make the knots.
I personally thought this pattern looked like a whole bunch of wish bones, but Yoko who stitched this for us told me the song "Take me out to the ball game" would not stop playing while she was stitching this. (It is mostly because you do have to finish one circle at a time and those do look like a baseball). Also, I'm sure that because I mentioned that, that song will be playing in your head while stitching this. Sorry!
Here is the picture of pillow version Marubishamon.
